~ Music enriches the soul of a community ~

A sample of our newly expanded programs:

Chamber Music Camp

* For the first time we offered a summer camp where students of band instruments studied together with students of stringed instruments.  The culmination was a great sound in a public concert that gave the kids the experience of creating music with their peers.

Vocal and Choral Skills for Adult Singers

* This class gave summer and year-round choral singers an opportunity to delve into vocal technique and learn how to access their best sound.

Workshop for Pre-School Teachers

* Susan Salidor, an award-winning singer and songwriter from Chicago, visited Nantucket once again and supplemented her popular Circle Time Music Classes for young children with a workshop for twelve teachers to learn how to construct the perfect music class.

Ukulele Class

* To build on the teacher workshop, Executive Director Mollie Glazer taught a beginning ukulele class to nine pre-school teachers.  They now have the tools to play a simple instrument while teaching songs to their young students.

 “Mondays at the Methodist”

* A series of noontime concerts featured students and faculty from our school.  Programs included: Mollie Glazer and former student Ethan Philbrick performed on two cellos; Chamber Music Camp students and faculty presented music of Handel, Beethoven and others; students taking summer lessons also performed their pieces.

Sherburne Commons Concerts

* Beginning this past June, our students and faculty visit Sherburne Commons, Nantucket’s Senior Living Community, once a month to perform for the residents.
